Puppy Cage Training Made Easy
Lets go through the step-by-step process of your Puppy Cage Training.If you do not have a Lab Puppy Cage then I would recommend that you go out and get one, it will be the best investment you will ever make it will make your Lab puppy training so much easier.
So firstly I have found a short puppy cage training video for you to watch, once you have watch it I will go through all the most important points to help you with your training.

I hope the video was of help now lets get on with the training.
- The first thing we need to do with the lab puppy cage is to make it as inviting as possible. You will need to put in your Labrador dog blanket and a boredom-busting Labrador puppy toy. One of the best ones you can buy are the type you can stuff with food treats. Your puppy will be having so much fun trying to get out the treats, his mind will be focused on that.
- To start with put your puppy in the cage for a limited time, but stay in the room.
- The next step go out of the room for a few minutes and then return. Top Tip Do not go straight to the cage and let your puppy out when you come back into the room , don’t make a fuss just take him outside to his toilet area so he can go to the loo. (this will help you so much with your Dogs toilet Training )
- Gradually build up the time you leave your lad puppy in the cage. If he whines and barks please ignore him I know it will be hard but your puppy has to learn. If you go rushing back into the room to tell your puppy off your puppy will have got the attention that he wanted.
- Make a few mock departures, let the puppy she you putting on your coat and let him hear the jangling of keys and even go as far as opening and closing the front door. Wait a few minutes and go back into the room where your puppy is don’t let him out straight away, take your time taking off your coat and putting your keys away. When you have done this open the cage and take him outside as before.(the point of all this is to show the puppy you will be coming back and he will be less anxious when you go out and he will be less excited when you return, excited puppy means a puddle for you to clean up).
- After you have tried this a few times you will be ready to leave your puppy so you can go out to do your food shopping etc knowing that your puppy will be safe and well when you return.
If you work at this puppy cage training exercise, your puppy will learn very quickly that you will be coming back and you will have a happy content puppy not a traumatised one.
The great advantage to having a Lab puppy cage is that your puppy is confined so when you return he will be safe and well and so will your home. He is also less likely to foul his cage.
