What you Need to Know about Puppy Training Recall

Puppy training recall is really important, and if your Labrador puppy has a strong recall he will be a pleasure to own, and it will make your life with your puppy so much easier. if you are sure your puppy will come back to you, you are fare more likely to allow him off the lead when you go out. Puppy Training recall must be one of your top priorities when you start training your Lab puppy.

So here are your first steps to Puppy Training Recall.

When your new Labrador puppy arrives at your home, you will find that he will follow you everywhere. This provides you with a great opportunity to start your recall training.

When you see your puppy following you, just crouch down and use his name, and give him the command “come”
Give your puppy lots of praise when he comes to you. Your puppy is only doing what he wanted to do , but he will start to associate the word “Come” with the correct response, he is also learning that he will always get a lot of fuss and attention when he does come to you.
Practise this in the house, go into different room and call your lab puppy. Ask a friend or another member to hold the puppy, then call him into the kitchen when it is time to be fed. This will give your puppy a great reward for coming when he is called.

This a great way to get your children involved with your Lab Puppy Training.

Give each child a puppy treat and sit them down on the floor opposite each other.
Then get each child to take his or her turn to call the puppy, using the puppies name and the command “Come”. When the pup comes, tell the children to praise the puppy and then they can give him a treat, then let the next child have a turn.
As your lab puppy progresses in his training, you can ask him to “sit” before he is given his reward.

When you first get your puppy you will spending a lot of time with him, and sometimes your child will feel left out, introducing this simple game will include all the family and it will help with your puppy bonding.
